Scriptures: Heb 4:12-16/Mk 2:13-17

Hebrews 4:12-16 is a passage from the New Testament of the Bible that discusses the word of God.

Mark 2:13-17 is a passage from the New Testament of the Bible that tells the story of Jesus calling Levi, a tax collector, to follow him.

Theme

One theme that connects Hebrews 4:12-16 and Mark 2:13-17 is the idea of Jesus as a savior and healer for those who are in need.

In Hebrews 4:12-16, Jesus is described as a "great high priest" who has the ability to "sympathize with our weaknesses" and who offers us the opportunity to approach God with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. This passage suggests that Jesus is able to understand and help those who are struggling, and that he provides a way for us to connect with God and receive the help that we need.

In Mark 2:13-17, Jesus is depicted as a healer who calls Levi, a tax collector, to follow him. The passage also mentions that Jesus is eating with tax collectors and sinners, which the Pharisees find scandalous. However, Jesus responds by saying that he has come to call those who are sick, rather than the righteous, implying that he is especially concerned with helping those who are in need of healing and salvation.

Both of these passages, then, portray Jesus as a savior and healer for those who are in need, and suggest that he is particularly concerned with helping those who are struggling or marginalized.

Haiku

Jesus, savior kind,
Offers healing to the lost,
Bringing hope to hearts.

Limerick

There once was a man named Levi,
Whose life was rather heavy,
But Jesus came along,
And in him Levi found a song,
And a life that was no longer heavy.
