Scriptures

Heb 5:1-10/Mk 2:18-22

Heb 5:1-10 talks about Jesus as a High Priest "who has been tested in every way, just as we are—yet without sin".

Mark 2:18-22 is about Jesus saying that the Sabbath was made for people and not people for the Sabbath. He also said that he is Lord of the Sabbath.

Theme

Both of these passages focus on Jesus exhibiting his religious authority and leadership. In Heb 5:1-10, Jesus is shown as a High Priest who has been tested, but is still blameless. In Mk 2:18-22, Jesus is shown as Lord of the Sabbath, reminding us that the Sabbath is meant to be a blessing and not a burden.

Haiku

The Lord of Sabbath,
Gently tested for us all,
Jesus our High Priest.

Limerick

The Lord of the Sabbath with wisdom and love
Spoke bold words that He spoke from above
He humbly declared with no doubt
That the Son of Man had a role to put out
From High Priest to Lord of the Sabbath, His greatness was clearly enough!
